The opening for “Touch” is on Sept. 5th at 1pm, and is an art installation to honor my Dad who has Alzheimer's. Location: @somerset.parks Environmental Education Center in Basking Ridge, NJ off Lord Stirling Road. He touched this cup when the polymeric nature of clay ensured that his hand print stayed post firing. This is the last thing he will ever make - and he's worked on major projects, such as Bell Labs and Newark Liberty Airport. The raw sadness brought the concept of this project to light - this is the suffering that drove me. I needed to embody this in my work and I knew I needed 365 of these primal hands/water/sponge pinch pots, including 24 seven side vessels. The metaphor is simple, but telling. My Dad will never recognize my journey or work - a tree planted whose shade we will never share.
